Meeting was held at Bill Lefley barn
1. Bill called the meeting to order.
2. Present - Bill Lefley, Gail Zandstra, Michael O’Connor, David Bernat, Joe Milaukas, Tammy Cunnion, Mike Flynn. Excused - Mike Finn, Mimi Harris, Steve McKown, Herk VandenBosch. Absent - Kathy Sarkisian.
3. Minutes from December 7, 2022, were approved with the correction of the next meeting times; April 19, 2023, moved to April 26, 2023 and the May 17, 2023 meeting moved to May 24, 2023.
4. Treasury Report - David Bernat is now the new treasurer. The DLSA Huntington Bank Account was closed and moved to Macatawa Bank. David switched the accounting to quick books, added credit card capability and Bill set up a square reader account which directly deposits into the bank. A total of $6,424.00 is in the account at present with no liabilities this month. The Treasurer’s report was approved. David would like to scan the old bank statements and put them on the web site.
5. Marketing - Bill reported that the directory has been updated and will continue to be updated to the web site about every 3 months. He feels that the DLSA has been growing by word of mouth.
6. Membership - 102 unpaid members.
7. Social - Many DLSA dates have been scheduled already. May 26, 2023, will be the opener at the Rosemont Inn. The annual meeting will be June 24, 2023. The DB Horns are booked and it was decided to go with a pot luck this year. A committee will be needed to set up and tear down. Ice, water and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. The board voted not to charge for the annual party.
8. Old Business - Concern for the hill was talked about again, but so far no feedback. Nothing has happened with a sign. Joe mentioned that we have been looking to do this for 2 years now. Bill will contact Steve.
9. New Business - No news about the Lakeshore Drive reroute. There is a feasibility study report found under resources on the web site. The board talked about speakers at the annual meeting. Bill brought up advertising on the web site, using the example of the Lake Michigan Shore Association and explaining how they do it. These ads could be treated as a sponsorship and could help cover some of the expenses of the DLSA. The board suggested talking to our members first to see if anyone is interested in placing ads. Bill made a motion to solicit advertisers for the web site; cost being $100.00 per sponsor, per year, with 20 sponsors limited to begin with. Tammy will look into a public post to advertise this. The motion was passed. The next board meeting is May 24, 2023, at 5:30, at the Lefley barn.
10. Bill adjourned the meeting.
Respectfully submitted - Gail Zandstra
